10/22/2004: !!!
On Friday, October 22nd, a group of servers located at our Datacenter 1 location will be migrated to remote reboot strips. Once this work is completed, we will be able to power cycle your servers through a web-based interface - in real time. This will offer us greater convenience and allow our team to better focus on serving you.

The migration is scheduled to take place between 0700 and 1600 CDT (-0600 GMT). Part of the process will involve removing and replacing the power cable. We highly recommend that you perform full backups of your system prior to this maintenance window. The estimated downtime for each server will be no more than 20 minutes. Our technicians will verify that migrated servers are powered up properly and continue to function smoothly.

The following subnet ranges will be affected by this final maintenance:
207.44.236.x
207.44.238.x
207.44.240.x
207.44.242.x
207.44.244.x
207.44.246.x
207.44.248.x
207.44.250.x

RAM Upgrade Scheduled. There may be a 15 minute window were services will not be available. Check this page for more info. - Lovedialup Staff

09/29/2004:
The server was attacked by a email with bcc headers to many hundreds of email addresses at aol.com. Turns out the culprit was an outdated version of formmail.pl. We have removed any formmail scripts and replaced them with the new version (1.92). Please contact support if you have problems with the new version.

09/28/2004:
The billing system at micxz.net is now available under SSL here: https://www.micxz.net/

NOTE From the NOC:
Network Maintenance - DC1 - 09/23/04
12:01 am - 6:00 am CDT (-5 UTC)
Router Maintenance

Traffic will be re-routed; you may experience some latency as routes re-converge.

09/14/2004:
Plesk Upgraded from 6.0.3 to Plesk Reloaded (7.1.3). Upgrade went very well. The disk space usage and statistics is not reading correctly. This may cause some frustration for customers not knowing how much disk space they are really using, and other getting reports of more than they are using. We are searching for a fix for this now.

Old News:
3/05/2003:   6:00pm EST Email services have been updated on the server to require POP before SMTP to help decrease SPAM emails being sent through the server.

3/07/2003:

Message from the Data Center Senior Network Engineer...

"Network Outage 03/07/03

Today, we experienced a substantial attack that resulted in a partial outage of our network. I am unable to provide detailed information of the attack at this time. The entire Network Team and Network Operations Centers worked very hard to bring this to a resolution. On behalf of all of us at Everyones Internet I would like thank every one of you for your business and your patience.

Best regards,

Val Stinson"

2/21/2003  5:08 pm EST - server reboot completed.

1/27/2003  The problem is there is an exploit in the smartsearch.cgi that can allow a hacker to upload a bindshell and dos programs to attack other servers.  The problem domain has been removed and all materials we've found uploaded through the exploit have been removed.

Details of the smartsearch.cgi exploit can be found at:

http://www.securiteam.com/exploits/5AP041F8VA.html

1/09/2003:  Server was under a DoS attack, we worked with the DataCenter to block the attack (had to disable services) and added the attacking IPs to the server's firewall configuration.  We've successfully blocked the IPs lauching the DoS attack against the server and all services have been re-enabled.

12/26/2002 1:17pm EST:  Upstream providers outages have been corrected.

12/20/2002:  6:25pm EST - DataCenter manually rebooted server again and performed a manual file system check - domains accessible and we're investigating the error log files to correct any issue we find.

11/05/2002 - SPAMMER ALERT - Please be advised any domain sending out SPAM will be immediately removed, we will email you proof of the offense and if the account is recreated your reseller account will be deleted from the server.  Any domain receiving thousands of emails daily will also be removed.

10/14-17/2002 - Cleaned up qmail... pop & smtp services were affected during this. The SPAMMERs were attempting to send out 30,000+ emails in the last 24 hours - we're still going through the logs to specifically identify SPAM domains and they will also be immediately removed!

We're also removed 10 problem domains on this server causing various issues with our mail services, these domains were getting sent another 30,000+ emails in the last 24 hours.

10/14-17/2002 - We've made a number of upgrades to enhance server performance, you'll notice the server running much faster because of the upgrades and performance utilities just installed.  We've also upgraded the PLESK version from 2.5.3 to 2.5.5  We've also implemented a new firewall system, this includes a number of TCP/IP kernel level optimizations specifically developed for busy servers.

10/20/2002- 4:00pm EST - DOS attack on the Network, Network status has returned back to normal.

9/27/2002- there was an inbound DOS attack launched against the DataCenter's Network, attack has been blocked by the DataCenter.

07/20/2002 - server was restarted after necessary server maintenance.  First server reboot at command line failed, had to have our NOC perform a manual reboot - server came back online after the manual reboot.

06/16/2002 - 6:00am EST to 6:35am EST custom SSH2 script install then server restart will be restarted - services will be inaccessible during this period.

5/22-23/2002 updated configurations that were changed when PLESK 2.5 was installed on the server.

  • COMPLETED:  telnet and ssh have been disabled

  • COMPLETED:  reloading perl modules not included with the PLESK 2.5 build to the server

  • COMPLETED:  updating webmail configurations w/n php config

  • COMPLETED:  manually reloading mysql databases

5/23/2002 approx. 4:39am EST to 4:47am EST - restarted server to set the changes to update the server configuration for applications not provided within PLESK 2.5 Restart took 9 minutes.

5/20/2002 upgraded server hard drives.  9:25pm EST

We upgraded the server hard drives on this server.  This upgrade will switch hard drives to a different manufacturer as we've discovered some 'bugs' in the current drives and rather than chance a hard drive failure in the future we're changing them now.

5/15/2002 10:00pm EST (USA) - as per customer requests and to help enhance server performance we're making the necessary changes to upgrade from PLESK 2.0 to PLESK 2.5 from PLESK 2.0  This upgrade will correct known 'bugs' in the PLESK 2.0 version currently installed on this server.

During this work in the server your sites will remain accessible through httpd (browser).  However, xinetd, psa admins, qmail, & imap will be deactivated - this will disable FTP, psa control panels and mail usage. This is necessary to block any sort of interactive access to the server that will interfere with this upgrade
